Fortaleza is a city that reflects the sun and the sea in its colours and it is much more than only a tourist town. The capital of Ceará is the great metropolis of the state, with a population estimated at 2,571 million, and vocation to the service and commerce areas.
It is also known as the Brazilian capital of humor, due to its great number of comedians who migrate to other regions with their unique performances. In the last years, the city has discovered new vocations and developed a diversified cuisine, with restaurants specializing in Portuguese, Italian, German and Oriental food, attracting professionals and investors from different countries.
One of the new vocations involves information technology. The government entities work with the perspective of transforming the capital of Ceará into a hub in this segment. There are already seven underwater fiber optic cables system in operation and five new in negotiations. This activity will impact R$ 1.1 billion on the growth of State Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the next 30 years.
The Metropolitan Region of Fortaleza (RMF), also known as Grande Fortaleza (Great Fortaleza), is also under a transformation period. Currently, cities such as Eusébio are receiving new health centers, as well as specialized footwear industries in Pacajus and Horizonte, and a steel pole in the Industrial Complex and Port of Pecém (Cipp).
Therefore, this is a time for new discoveries and integration with other cultures, which generates the possibility of new businesses and development.
